Sanitary Towels

Lack of access to menstrual hygiene products can prevent girls from attending school and participating fully in daily activities. Our sanitary towels distribution programs provide girls with access to free, high-quality menstrual hygiene products, ensuring that they can manage their periods with dignity and confidence. Our initiatives and Approach for Sanitary Towels Distribution include:-

Community Outreach and Education

• Conduct educational workshops and seminars in communities to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene and the importance of using sanitary towels.
• Provide information on menstrual health, hygiene practices, and the proper use and disposal of sanitary towels.
• Address stigma and taboos surrounding menstruation through open discussions and community engagement activities.

Sanitary Towels Distribution

• Procure high-quality sanitary towels from reliable suppliers or manufacturers.
• Establish distribution centers in underserved communities, including schools, health centers, and community centers.
• Organize distribution events where women and girls can access free sanitary towels, ensuring confidentiality and respect for their privacy.
• Prioritize vulnerable populations, including girls from low-income families, women in rural areas, and prisoners, who often lack access to menstrual hygiene products.

Prison Outreach

• Partner with correctional facilities to distribute sanitary towels to female inmates.
• Conduct educational sessions on menstrual hygiene and provide information on the importance of maintaining menstrual health in prison settings.
• Advocate for the inclusion of sanitary towels in prison hygiene kits and ensure that female prisoners have access to adequate supplies throughout their menstrual cycles.

Addressing Adverse Effects of Poor Menstrual Hygiene

• Lack of access to menstrual hygiene products can lead to adverse health effects, including infections, reproductive health issues, and discomfort.
• Girls may miss school or drop out altogether due to the inability to manage their periods effectively, perpetuating cycles of poverty and inequality.
• Women may face social stigma and discrimination related to menstruation, impacting their self-esteem, mental health, and social participation.
• By providing free sanitary towels and promoting menstrual hygiene education, we aim to mitigate these adverse effects and empower women and girls to manage their periods with dignity and confidence.

Through these initiatives, Safari Ya Msamaria Mwema seeks to break down barriers to menstrual hygiene, promote women’s health and dignity, and contribute to gender equality and social justice.
